GIA LAI — Cargill has inaugurated its 125th Cargill Cares school in Gia Lai Province to mark its 30th anniversary in Việt Nam, reaffirming its long-term commitment to the country.

Located in Ia Phi Commune, the new classroom block at Lang Yang Elementary School includes five classrooms, a kitchen, restrooms, and a teachers’ office within a secure compound, providing a safe and inspiring learning environment. The VNĐ4.5 billion (US$171,000) project offers much-needed facilities for children in the mountainous area.

Principal Nguyễn Trọng Cường said the new facilities “bring hope and opportunity to children in our community,” highlighting Cargill’s support for rural education and development.

Nguyễn Bá Luân, Country Representative of Cargill Vietnam, said the 125th school reflected the company’s belief that education is essential for long-term growth and resilience. “Just as we invest in Việt Nam’s agriculture sector, we also invest in future generations,” he said.

Cargill aims to build 150 Cargill Cares schools nationwide by 2030.

The inauguration followed Cargill’s 30th anniversary celebration in HCM City last week, where the company honoured employees, community partners, and customers who have contributed to its three-decade journey in Việt Nam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hoàng Trung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, praised Cargill’s contributions to Việt Nam’s agricultural development.

“With Cargill’s global experience and Việt Nam’s consistent policies, we can jointly build a green, smart, and efficient livestock industry deeply integrated into global value chains,” he said, noting that Cargill represents a model of sustainable cooperation between Việt Nam and the US.

In recognition of its contributions to the agriculture and environment sectors, the ministry presented Cargill with a Certificate of Merit for its achievements in livestock and aquafeed production.

Luân reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Việt Nam, saying the country plays an important role in the global food supply chain. “Cargill will continue to make a positive impact on the industry and the country overall,” he said.

Established in Việt Nam in 1995, Cargill operates seven feed mills, a premix plant, a grain and oilseed warehouse, a product distribution centre, and a swine nucleus farm, employing more than 1,100 people nationwide. — VNS
