HCM CITY — More than 100 technologies and digital solutions from 50 domestic and international partners are being showcased in HCM City as the city launched Techmart 2025 on Thursday, marking a major push to accelerate its transition toward a data-driven smart city.
The annual event, officially known as the Technology and Equipment Marketplace for Smart City Digital Transformation, brings together universities, research institutes, tech firms and public-sector organisations to promote innovation and support technology transfer.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyễn Hữu Yên, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Science and Technology, which organises the event, said Techmart 2025 aims to create a space for “connection, sharing and collaboration”, linking technology providers with organisations seeking digital-transformation solutions.
He said the event is expected to help transform ideas into practical applications and support the city’s strategy to build a data-driven, citizen-centred smart city.
This year’s exhibition highlights four priority areas: urban management with big-data and AI solutions for monitoring and sustainability; healthcare with smart-data technologies to improve diagnostics and patient care; education with digital platforms for teaching, learning and administration; and tourism with smart-tourism tools that enhance visitor experiences and strengthen the city’s global profile.
The programme also includes 14 technology demonstrations and seminars on practical digital-transformation applications.
For the first time, the event operates on a 24/7 virtual exhibition platform, allowing users to explore displays remotely through an interactive online system.
At the opening, the city also launched an expanded version of Techport.vn, its online innovation and technology-transfer portal.
The upgraded platform integrates data from HCM City, Bình Dương and Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, creating a larger unified database to better support businesses and strengthen regional science-and-technology markets.
According to the department, Techmart 2025 is expected to deepen collaboration between research institutions and industry, accelerate technology transfer and support the implementation of Resolution 57 and the city’s broader development strategy. — VNS
