A memorial service was held in the hometown of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam, in Đông Hội Commune, Đông Anh District, Hà Nội. Friends, family, and residents of Hà Nội gathered to mourn his passing.
Miguel Díaz-Canel affirmed that General Secretary Trọng’s passing is a great loss to the Cuban people, saying he himself and other high-ranking leaders of Cuba had chances to meet and work with the Vietnamese leader, a very close comrade, and a sincere brother of the Cuban people.
The respect-paying ceremony of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyễn Phú Trọng is organised in the national mourning etiquette at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông, Hà Nội, from 7 AM to 10 PM on July 25 and from 7 AM to 1 PM on July 26, 2024.
Crowds of people gathered at the site to witness the ceremony, many broke out into tears.
The respect-paying and memorial ceremonies take place concurrently at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội, Thống Nhất Hall in Hồ Chì Minh City and at the leader’s native land in Đông Hội Commune, Đông Anh District, Hà Nội.
