HÀ NỘI — Vietnam Airlines and Lufthansa Technik AG on Thursday inked an Auxiliary Power Units (APU) maintenance service contract for the carrier’s growing Airbus A350 fleet.
Dương Trí Thành, CEO and President of Vietnam Airlines, said the contract will further strengthen the results-driven partnership between the two companies.
“We believe that Lufthansa Technik will deliver its world-class technical competencies ensuring smooth operation of Vietnam Airlines’ Airbus A350 fleet on our long-haul flights,” he said.
Vietnam Airlines’ A350s are equipped with Honeywell’s HGT1700 APU, which have been developed to match the operational requirements of the A350 XWB.
The three-year contract will encompass maintenance services for the airlines’ 10 APU. Vietnam Airlines is currently operating 12 Airbus A350s globally, with two more joining the fleet next year.
During the first half of the year, Vietnam Airlines operated 72,800 flights with its On Time Performance (OTP) reaching 90 per cent. The airline transported 13.7 million passengers – a rise of 4 per cent compared to the same period last year. Cargo reached 167,000 tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 8.5 per cent, and fulfilling nearly 100 per cent of the target for domestic and international markets.
Vietnam Airlines’ total consolidated revenue was estimated at VNĐ49.8 trillion (US$2.15 billion), while the parent company’s revenue was estimated at nearly VNĐ36.3 trillion. — VNS
