HCM CITY— A majority of employers will increase their recruitment demand in next year, according to the latest report of VietnamWorks, the online recruitment website operated by Navigos Group.

Among more than 400 surveyed employers, 74 per cent said their recruitment demand would increase next year.

A majority of jobseekers intend to change jobs next year, citing many different reasons, including no chance for career advancement, dissatisfaction with salary, improper training and development, inconvenient location, and irrelevant tasks at work, among others.

The top 10 job categories with the biggest hiring need next year include finance/investment, sales, administrative/clerical, accounting, IT/Software, marketing, customer service, auditing, internet/online media, and construction.

Trần Thị Anh Đào, director of the HCM City Human Resources Forecast and Labour Market Information (Falmi) Centre, said that companies and enterprises in the city alone would need nearly 70,000 employees in the last quarter of this year. Fields that need employees include logistics, IT, finance- banking, and media, among others.

Nearly 30,000 people will be needed for seasonal jobs during the last quarter because many enterprises will be expanding production for the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Online recruitment

In 2017-2018, online recruitment demand increased by 11 per cent while the online labour supply rose by only 5 per cent, according to VietnamWorks report.

The recruitment market has undergone one of the most competitive periods in the last five years, the report said.

Jobs that require experience still dominate the recruitment market in 2018, with HCM City and Hà Nội ranking the highest in both demand and supply.

According to VietnamWorks, job search websites and social media are two of the most used platforms for recruiting, accounting for 28 per cent and 25 per cent, respectively.

The combination of several digital channels in recruitment strategies is almost always better than using a single channel, Gaku Echizenya, CEO of Navigos Group, said.

Detailed and updated information can more accurately target jobs and employees when using automated email systems or ads on digital media channels such as social media.

In addition, online job postings help increase the number of job applicants. Currently, VietnamWorks has the largest job seekers database with 3.6 million (most of whom are candidates with two or more years of experience).

It also is the largest monthly traffic job site in Việt Nam with about 8 million views per month.

Digital recruitment helps shorten the time for hard-to-recruit positions and costs because it can reach the right target audience through various communication channels, according to Echizenya.

Moreover, digital recruitment helps mass recruitment needs and effectively promotes employer brand for new businesses. —VNS
