TÂY NINH — The southern province of Tây Ninh on Tuesday honoured 12 practical technical innovations in the first Farmers’ Technical Innovation Contest 2026.

The contest had received 79 entries.

Many addressed practical production needs, focusing on reducing labour and costs, protecting the environment, and improving agricultural efficiency, and covered crop production, livestock and aquaculture, machinery, and processing.

The entries included improved machinery, automatic irrigation, smartphone-controlled pumps, QR-code livestock management, sensors, drones, and the use of agricultural by-products to make organic fertiliser and biochar.

Nguyễn Tấn Sang of Hòa Khánh Commune won the first prize for his machine for screening pennywort seeds.

Nguyễn Minh Lâm, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said technical innovation by farmers could become an important resource for agricultural development.

He urged official agencies to support innovators with improving solutions, registering intellectual property rights, and connecting them with practical users.

The province supports science and technology, innovation and digital transformation in agriculture, he said.

These efforts are in line with the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57 issued in December 2024 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. — VNS
