Foreign delegations have arrived at the funeral hall this morning to pay their respects to the late General Secretary.

Regarding diplomacy, the unique "bamboo diplomacy" was strongly promoted, creating historic milestones and substantial changes in Việt Nam’s relations with major partners, including the US.

The State funeral is being organised by the Party Central Committee, National Assembly, State President Office, Government and Việt Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee and his families.

A memorial service for Comrade Nguyễn Phú Trọng, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam, is held at the Independence Palace, Hồ Chí Minh City.

The respect-paying ceremony of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyễn Phú Trọng is organised in the national mourning etiquette at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông, Hà Nội, from 7 AM to 10 PM on July 25 and from 7 AM to 1 PM on July 26, 2024.

Crowds of people gathered at the site to witness the ceremony, many broke out into tears.

The respect-paying and memorial ceremonies take place concurrently at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội, Thống Nhất Hall in Hồ Chì Minh City and at the leader’s native land in Đông Hội Commune, Đông Anh District, Hà Nội.

The passing of Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng left many heartbroken, especially those who were close to him. At the Central Military Hospital 108, where he worked until his final day, staff have spoken of their sadness following his death.
