HÀ NỘI — There are currently no decisions regarding the suspension or withdrawal of the titles of six finalists in Mister Tourism World 2025, said the chairman of the beauty contest in Việt Nam, Chu Tấn Văn.

"According to Decree 144 of the Government of Việt Nam, the organisation and recognition of beauty and modeling contests in Việt Nam must be carried out by licensed entities. The Mister Tourism World 2025 competition has been authorised for organisation by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuận Province,” he told the Lao Động (Labour) newspaper.

"Therefore, any decisions related to the titles of the contestants must be reviewed and approved by the competent authorities and the competition organisers.”

According to him, after information spread on social media regarding the potential suspension of six finalists’ titles, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuận Province has demanded that the organising unit to provide an explanation regarding the results.

The incident stemmed from objections to the results from the representative of Malaysia, the first runner up of Mister Tourism World 2025. The organisers have provided detailed scores of the contestants during the competition at a press conference.

The scores, which include the signatures of the judges responsible for evaluating the contestants, indicated that the representative from Malaysia, Muhammad Asyraf Bin Mohd Dasli, did not make it to the top in several rounds of the competition.

"We affirm that the results of the competition were evaluated fairly, objectively and according to the proper procedures. We have explained the results to the international organisation, however, we have not yet received a response," Văn added.

Nguyễn Hữu Hưng, the representative of Việt Nam who won the competition, said he was suffering after questions regarding the suspension of titles circulated.

"My event schedules and advertising contracts have been put on hold, causing certain difficulties in my work. However, I still have faith in the organisers of the Mister Tourism World competition, the relevant authorities, and especially in the legitimacy of the competition," he told Lao Động (Labour) newspaper.

"I believe that the title I have achieved is completely deserved, and the competition is still progressing very successfully. The challenges ahead do not shake my determination. I will continue to dedicate myself fully and will never do anything that goes against my conscience.”

Hưng revealed that he would continue to promote commercial activities, advertising and tourism, while still working as a dance instructor. He hopes that his efforts will help spread positive values to the community.

Hưng, who was born in the northern province of Hải Dương in 1998, is 1.88 metres tall and weighs 75 kg. He won second place in the Piaggio Dance Contest 2020 and has performed at major events such as music festivals, concerts and countdown celebrations.
