HCM CITY — Many marathoners have been honoured as the best runners in Việt Nam for their great effort and achievements in the 2024 season.

Runners who took part in the Việt Nam Nexus Marathon Series (VNMS) by Nexus Sport Events were awarded at a ceremony on February 8.

Edwin Yebei Kiptoo, Hoàng Nguyên Thanh and Huỳnh Anh Khôi were the strongest runners in the men's 42km category.

Hoàng Thị Ngọc Hoa was the best in the women's 21km, while Phạm Ngọc Phan topped the men's 21km category.

Other winners were Hứa Thuận Long and Trần Thị Duyên, who topped the men's and women's 10km classes.

The organisers also presented awards to the top three runners in the VNMS Index table, Đặng Chí Công, Nguyễn Trường Phúc and Trần Duy Khang, as they secured the highest points after taking part in the series' competitions.

The strongest clubs also received bonuses from competition organisers.

At the weekend gala, organisers and athletes summarised their achievements and honoured the spirit of dedication and inspiration, as well as their contributions to spreading the love of running in the community.

They also discussed milestones achieved in the effort to develop the future of Vietnamese running.

VNMS Races is a series of tournaments across Việt Nam, including the notable Đà Lạt Music Night Run, Mekong Delta Marathon and Đất Sen Hồng Marathon. 

The series includes VNMS Insights, a platform for news and in-depth seminars on running, providing useful and updated knowledge to the community, as well as VNMS Talent Sport Fund, which sponsors young Vietnamese runners.

VNMS also hosts a running hub platform where people can interact, share experiences and conquer running challenges together, as well as a training camp for athletes -- particularly young talents -- to develop running skills.
