HÀ NỘI — Following their win against the Philippines in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Group F, the national team was rewarded VNĐ800 million (US$34,000) by the Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF).

The 3:2 win at Mỹ Đình National Stadium on Thursday came after a seven-match run of losses.

The Việt Nam national team came from behind to play an outstanding game, their first under their new coach.

After five matches, Iraq currently lead Group F with five wins and have already secured a ticket to the next round. Indonesia ranks second with seven points, while Việt Nam ranks third with six points. With only one point, the Philippines have been officially eliminated.

In the next match, if Việt Nam win against Iraq away from home, and Indonesia draw or lose against the Philippines, Việt Nam will advance to the next stage.

In addition to the thrilling victory over the Philippines, the Vietnamese team will also receive a 'reward' from FIFA in the form of an additional 10.38 points, they rise two places to 113th in the world rankings.
