HÀ NỘI — The U19 Việt Nam team lost to China 0-1 at an international friendly football tournament in China on Tuesday.

From the start, both teams were committed and not afraid of physical contact. But the Chinese team controlled the match better and scored an early goal in the tenth minute, thanks to a long-distance shot by Wang Yudong.

After falling behind, Việt Nam tightened their formation and ramped up their passes. Led by captain Công Phương, the players caused many difficulties for their opponents, however they lacked coordinating skills and were unable to create any clear-cut scoring opportunities.

In the second half, Việt Nam had several chances to equalise, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Coach Hứa Hiền Vinh made tactical team changes, but the game remained the same, with the match ending one nil in China's favour.

Việt Nam will next face South Korea on June 8 and Uzbekistan on June 10. VNS
