More than 600 athletes and coaches will arrive in Hải Phòng Rowing Centre for the Southeast Asian Rowing and Canoering Championship from June 24 to July 7. VNS Photo

HẢI PHÒNG -- The Southeast Asian Rowing and Canoering Championships will be held in Hải Phòng from June 24 to July 7.

At the same time young athletes will compete in the U19 and U23 tournaments at the Hải Phòng Rowing Centre.

As many as 600 athletes and coaches from seven countries will take part in the events.

Việt Nam will send best competitors including rower Phạm Thị Huệ and canoeist Nguyễn Thị Hương, who have qualified for the Paris Olympics this summer, to hunt regional titles.

According to Director of Hải Phòng Culture and Sports Department Trần Thị Hoàng Mai, the city used to host rowing and canoeing events of the 31st SEA Games in 2022.

The department and relevant units were working hard to preprare for the championship.

“We are to ensure the success of the tournament with plans on security and organisation among other activities. We hope to contribute to athletes' high achievements in this year championship," Mai said. VNS
