Quảng Ngãi calls for more assistance to curb coastal erosion

People’s Committee of central province of Quảng Ngãi has asked Government for VNĐ 233 billion (US$ 10 million) for urgent projects to address coastal landslides in the province between 2019 and 2020.

QUẢNG NGÃI — The Quảng Ngãi Province People’s Committee has sought VNĐ233 billion (US$10 million) from the Government for undertaking urgent works to prevent coastal erosion.

The funds would be used to build a coastal embankment Bình Hải and Bình Trị communes in Bình Sơn District, Phổ Thạnh commune in Phổ Đức District’s and Tịnh Khê Commune in Quảng Ngãi City.

Local residents have been expressing concern to authorities as erosion threaten their lives and properties and public infrastructure.

Last year the Government sanctioned VNĐ125 billion for the central province.

In addition to central assistance, the province also plans to use VNĐ22 billion from its own resources for these works. — VNS
