HẢI DƯƠNG — Hải Dương police have arrested a woman for trafficking in 30 bricks of heroin, the largest amount ever seized in the northern province.

Đào Thị Hải, 51, who lives in Lê Chân District in the northern city of Hải Phòng, was caught in Hải Dương’s Tứ Kỳ District on Monday after the police searched her car, vietnamplus.vn reported.
The car, which was being driven by her son, contained packages of heroin hidden inside two rice sacks and a backpack.

The bricks weighed a total of 10.5 kilogrammes.
At the police station, Hải admitted that she had received the heroin from a man she did not know earlier on the same day.

The man had hired her to transport the heroin from Thái Bình Province to another person in Hải Phòng City.

Without telling her son, Hải agreed to the deal for a wage of VNĐ20 million (US$854).
Hải has four criminal records that include drug use, gambling, and neglect to denounce criminals.
Hải is now under temporary custody while relevant agencies complete documents for criminal proceedings against her.
