TÂY NINH – Orvia Vietnam on October 12 inaugurated the Orvia Tây Ninh Duck Hatchery, a US$10 million facility with an annual production capacity of 21 million day-old ducklings.
The project is expected to strengthen the supply of high-quality Pekin ducklings to the Vietnamese market, supporting growing demand from the duck farming sector and its continued transition toward larger-scale, more professional and increasingly integrated production systems.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the Tây Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, local authorities, customers and representatives of Orvia Vietnam’s partners, including Orvia France, De Heus and Lan Chi.
Việt Nam’s duck industry is shifting from smallholder farming towards more structured operations and integrated value chains, increasing demand for high-quality genetics, uniform ducklings, technical support and consistent production performance under different farming and climatic conditions.
Orvia Vietnam is a joint venture between De Heus Group of the Netherlands, Orvia Group of France and Lan Chi Livestock Company of Việt Nam, combining three complementary areas of expertise.
Orvia is the exclusive partner in Pekin duck genetics and technical support, building on nearly 50 years of experience in genetics, breeding, reproduction and hatchery performance, initially developed in France and progressively extended across the main duck-producing regions worldwide.

Lan Chi, Orvia’s long-standing local partner and exclusive distributor of its genetics in Việt Nam since 2015, contributes knowledge of the domestic market, farming conditions and poultry production environment. De Heus brings industrial expertise, animal nutrition capabilities, value-chain experience and dedicated engineering and project-management resources.
The partnership also extends to parent-stock production in Tây Ninh, which is expected to strengthen local supply security, traceability and consistency from breeding stock to day-old ducklings.
Located on a 1.5-hectare site within Thành Thành Công Industrial Park in Trảng Bàng Ward, Tây Ninh Province, the hatchery has been purpose-built to meet the biological and operational requirements of Pekin duck incubation while adapting to the tropical climate of southern Việt Nam.
Combining international incubation expertise, specialised engineering and practical operating experience, the facility is designed to meet high standards of precision, process control, operational reliability, ergonomics and biosecurity.
The project was developed through the integration of proven equipment, specialist engineering and complementary expertise. Orvia France and Orvia Vietnam contributed expertise in Pekin duck incubation, hatching, production flows, duckling quality and biosecurity. De Heus mobilised project leaders and engineering resources to support development and execution, working with the project owner, civil engineering contractors, hatchery equipment suppliers and specialist machinery engineers experienced in Pekin duck hatchery installations.

With an annual capacity of 21 million day-old ducklings, the hatchery will expand Orvia Vietnam’s production capabilities and strengthen its ability to supply the domestic market with consistent, traceable Pekin ducklings.
Beyond supplying ducklings, the company plans to work with farmers and value-chain partners through technical support, flock-management advice and the sharing of practical expertise. By combining genetics, incubation quality, nutrition and farming expertise, the partners aim to help Vietnamese producers improve efficiency, manage costs and develop more sustainable, professional production systems.
The project is also expected to support high-tech agriculture in Tây Ninh, create local jobs, facilitate technology transfer and strengthen the waterfowl industry in southern Việt Nam.
Eric Houel, chief executive of Orvia Group, said the hatchery represented more than an infrastructure investment, serving as a key link between genetic potential and practical results for farmers.
“By combining advanced genetics, modern hatchery technology, tailored nutrition solutions and hands-on technical support, we aim to work alongside Việt Nam’s duck industry to enhance quality, improve production efficiency and foster sustainable growth,” he said.
Takanobu Hama, managing director of value chain business at De Heus Vietnam and food director at De Heus Asia, said the hatchery marked an important milestone in developing an integrated duck breeding value chain in Việt Nam.
“Together with the Tây Ninh parent duck farm, which is already operational, and the ĐắkNông parent duck farm, which is expected to commence operations in 2027, we are progressively building a fully integrated breeding system, from parent stock to day-old ducklings, to enhance quality, biosecurity standards and supply stability.
“We believe these investments will help farmers improve production efficiency while contributing to the sustainable development of Việt Nam’s duck industry,” he said.
As Việt Nam’s duck industry adopts more professional, larger-scale production methods, Orvia expects the hatchery to bring advances in genetics and incubation technology closer to farmers, improving productivity and strengthening the sector’s long-term competitiveness.
