BẮC NINH — The Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Party Committee and People’s Committee of the northern province of Bắc Ninh have held a ceremony to announce the Minister of Public Security’s decision establishing the Bắc Ninh City Police.

The establishment of the city police is believed to mark a new strategic step in ensuring national security and social order and safety in the locality.

The move is aimed at strengthening the organisational structure of the city police force to meet the requirements of socio-economic development and urbanisation, while improving State management of security and order in the new situation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Public Security General Lương Tam Quang said that the establishment of the city police marks a new stage of development and places higher demands on the force in maintaining security and order and contributing to the locality’s socio-economic development.

Quang asked the city police to urgently finalise its organisational structure and arrange officers and personnel according to their capabilities and areas of expertise to meet operational requirements.

He also urged the force to closely monitor the characteristics of the rapidly developing urban area and the province’s economic and industrial centre to proactively forecast, prevent and effectively combat crime and law violations.

The city police were also asked to strengthen State management of security and order and accelerate digital transformation to better serve residents and businesses.

On behalf of the Party Committee and leadership of the city police, Major General Bùi Duy Hưng, Director of the city police, pledged to fully implement the directions and assignments given by the minister, describing them as both an honour and a responsibility to the Party, State and people.

Hưng said that the Party Committee and leadership of the city police would promptly translate the assigned tasks into concrete measures and remain determined to build the city police into a clean, strong, professional, elite and modern force capable of successfully fulfilling all assigned tasks.

As of September 20, 2026, Bắc Ninh City officially became a centrally governed municipality under Resolution No. 39 of the National Assembly. — VNS
