HCM CITY — The HCM City Youth Volunteer Force, in collaboration with Vũng Tàu Ward’s People's Committee, officially launched a tourism order force at Tam Thắng Tower Square on September 1.

The initiative aims to guarantee public security, ensure traffic safety, and enhance support for visitors in the coastal urban area.

To relieve urban management pressures and foster professional tourism, the Youth Volunteer Force partnered with the city’s Department of Tourism and local authorities to pilot the project.

In the first phase starting September 1, 55 trained officers (50 official and five reserve) have been deployed across key local posts.

In addition, eight to ten guard booths have been set up to help locate lost children and property, as well as handle public feedback for functional authorities.

The personnel were recruited and trained by Bình Dương Ward’s Youth Volunteer Team in communication skills, local knowledge, cultural etiquette, and emergency response.

Speaking at the launch, Triệu Đỗ Hồng Phước, Commander of the Youth Volunteer Force, said deploying the initial 50-member team in Vũng Tàu Ward serves as a strategic step to evaluate and refine the model before expanding it across the Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu area.

He asked team members to maintain high responsibility, demonstrate a welcoming attitude, and coordinate closely with local police to curb street harassment, sidewalk encroachment, and littering.

Vũ Hồng Thuấn, chairman of the Vũng Tàu Ward People's Committee, confirmed that both parties have established a joint coordination mechanism.

“Local authorities pledged full support and regular communication to swiftly address emerging issues, building a safe, civilised, and friendly tourism environment.”

Under the phase-two plan, following its stable operation in Vũng Tàu Ward, the initiative will expand to remaining wards, communes, and the Côn Đảo Special Zone to strengthen security, assist with beach rescues, and reinforce urban management.

During a trial run from August 28 with 50 officers stationed across nine posts along Thùy Vân coastal road, the team achieved positive initial results by assisting foreign tourists, guiding pedestrians safely across streets, and reuniting lost children with their families. — VNS
