BẮC NINH — The investigative police agency in Bắc Ninh Province has initiated criminal proceedings against Nguyễn Văn Dũng, director of the province's Department of Science and Technology, on charges of passive bribery under the Penal Code.

This decision follows the Central Inspection Commission's review of violations committed by Party members within the Bắc Ninh Provincial Party Committee at its 10th session on July 30.

According to the commission, as a member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee and Secretary of the science department's Party Committee and the department's director, Dũng had shown a degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle.

He had violated Party regulations and State laws while performing his assigned duties and responsibilities, regulations on prevention of wastefulness and misconduct, and rules on prohibited acts for Party members.

The Central Inspection Commission decided that Dũng's violations had serious consequences and severely damaged the reputation of the Party organisation, the province and the department where he worked, and proposed disciplinary actions against him.

Dũng was suspended from all duties on July 15 by the chairman of the Bắc Ninh People's Committee, based on a proposal from the provincial Department of Home Affairs. — VNS
