CÀ MAU — Cà Mau Province will crack down on the use of meat from diseased animals and animals not slaughtered hygienically in the runup to Tết (Lunar New Year) mid-February.
On January 18, the Provincial People's Committee ordered relevant agencies to tighten oversight of diseased animals and the slaughtering process to ensure disease prevention and food safety for the upcoming holidays.
Dissemination and guidance is important to ensure that businesses and individuals strictly comply with veterinary and food safety regulations, it said.
Businesses are also required to strictly adhere to disease control standards for animals and animal products transported out of the province.
Relevant agencies have been instructed to strengthen inspections and monitoring of livestock and animal products carried by road to deter the transportation of animals products with unclear origins and without disease control certificates. — VNS
