The Vân Đồn - Móng Cái highway is the last section of the highway along the province extending from Bạch Đằng bridge to Móng Cái international border gate. After more than 2 years of implementation with many difficulties due to the pandemic, the expressway is entering a sprint construction phase to be put into operation in 2022, before technical traffic begins on the last day of 2021.

The highway belongs to the Hà Nội – Quảng Ninh highway system, which is a route of strategic importance to the economic, social and tourist development of the province and region.

The route is a 4-lane highway with a maximum speed of 120km/h, with a total length of nearly 80km, passing through the districts of Vân Đồn, Tiên Yên, Đầm Hà, Hải Hà and Móng Cái.

The project was implemented in the context of the pandemic, which disrupted supply chains, making it difficult to mobilise labour and equipment, and increased raw material prices. In addition there were difficulties caused by heavy rain.

The highway will officially open traffic on December 31, ensuring the conditions to be put into operation by 2022. It will create a favourable connection between economic zones, industrial zones and border gates of the province, and be the driving force to attract new investment. VNS
