This year marks the 20th UN Day of Vesak Celebrations, with Việt Nam having hosted the event four times. A highlight of the 2025 event is the ceremonial enshrinement of the historical Buddha’s relics, brought from India, symbolising Buddhist harmony and its peaceful message.

This marks the first state visit by a key Vietnamese leader to Kazakhstan in 13 years and the first ever by a CPV General Secretary.

Both leaders said efforts should be made to connect the two economies and promote trade and investment activities in various formats, striving to raise two-way trade to US$1 billion.

Leaders of Việt Nam and Sri Lanka discussed and agreed on key directions to uplift bilateral relations to the next level during the state visit to Việt Nam by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka on May 4-6.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka expressed his belief that the steadfast friendship and enduring partnership between Sri Lanka and Việt Nam will pave the way for a brighter future for both nations.

The Cambodian official highlighted the pride of marching alongside forces from Việt Nam, Laos, and China, marking the first time a Vietnamese-hosted parade featured foreign troops – a meaningful gesture in today’s global challenges.

Amending and supplementing the Constitution at the present time is extremely necessary, creating a constitutional basis for implementing the revolution of streamlining the organisational apparatus, building, perfecting and improving the operational efficiency of the political system, meeting the requirements and tasks of rapid and sustainable national development in the new era.

The Korean navy ship, Kang Gam Chan, with 296 crew members, began a three-day visit to the central city, boosting friendship, cooperation and exchanges within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Việt Nam and Korea.

A regional workshop highlighted Việt Nam’s long-standing commitment to UNCLOS and the Tribunal’s central role in resolving disputes under international maritime law.

The Sri Lankan President affirmed that he will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in strategic sectors with high demand in his country, including infrastructure, telecommunications, education, healthcare, hi-tech agriculture, farm processing, food, retail, logistics and tourism.

The Sri Lankan side showed its hope that Vietnamese businesses will invest in such areas as agriculture, renewable energy, electronics, manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, hospitals, pharmaceuticals and tourism.

The proposed amendments are intended solely to support the continued implementation of the organisational streamlining revolution according to the spirit of Resolution No.18 of the Party Central Committee with regards to the continued reform and streamlining of the organisational structure of the political system, without extending into unrelated areas.

The country also aims to lift GDP per capita above $5,000.

Việt Nam is among six countries -- the United Kingdom, India, South Korea, Japan, Việt Nam, and Indonesia -- that the US has given higher priority in negotiations.

The two Presidents visited relics associated with the life and career of President Hồ Chí Minh such as the stilt house and the fish pond, admiring the bronze statue "Uncle Hồ sitting working in the flower garden of the Presidential Palace" and artefacts preserving many memories of the late leader.

The visits serve as additional important steps to implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of external relations, and proactive, active, comprehensive, and efficient integration into the world

A key focus will be the adoption of a resolution to amend the 2013 Constitution, a polically and legally significant task to institutionalise the Party’s directives for streamlining the state apparatus to be more effective, efficient, and responsive to the people’s needs

Following the ceremony, the two Presidents led their delegations to hold bilateral talks, reviewing the progress of bilateral cooperation in recent years and discussing directions for future collaboration.
