HÀ NỘI - Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính arrived at Vnukovo-2 International Airport in Moscow at 5pm on March 22 (local time), beginning a four-day official visit to Russia at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin.
A formal welcome ceremony was held at the airport, hosted by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Yurevich Rudenko.
Among those welcoming the Vietnamese leader were Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko; Russian Ambassador to Việt Nam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko; representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Đặng Minh Khôi; as well as embassy staff and members of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
This is the first visit by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader to Russia in 2026. During the visit, Prime Minister Chính is scheduled to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin and meet with President Vladimir Putin, Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.
The two sides are expected to discuss measures to further strengthen Việt Nam–Russia relations, particularly in politics, while expanding cooperation in areas such as the economy, trade, investment, infrastructure development, science and technology, education and training, culture and the arts, with special emphasis on nuclear energy and oil and gas.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will also lay flowers at the monument to President Hồ Chí Minh and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and meet veterans, representatives of the Russia–Việt Nam Friendship Association, and other friends and contributors to bilateral relations.
He is also expected to meet leaders of major Russian corporations, engage with Việt Nam–Russia businesses, visit educational and high-tech facilities, tour Vietnamese investment projects in Russia, and meet embassy staff and the Vietnamese community.
The visit is expected to promote cooperation across multiple sectors and set a long-term vision for bilateral relations in politics, security, defence, foreign affairs, the economy, trade, science and technology, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges. It will further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the benefit of both nations and for regional and global peace, cooperation, stability and development. — VNS
