AN GIANG — An Giang Province Police on September 14 launched the “An Giang Police: Close to the People, Serving the People” application and opened the province’s 2026 live-fire cybersecurity exercise.

Hồ Văn Mừng, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the event demonstrated the province’s determination to accelerate digital transformation and harness science, technology and innovation to maintain security and public order.

It also puts into practice the principle of placing people at the centre, treating businesses as key stakeholders and positioning the government as a service provider.

The app provides a new channel through which the police can stay closer to residents, better understand their needs and concerns, receive and process information more quickly and deliver more convenient public services.

Mừng said the launch was only the beginning. The app’s effectiveness should be measured by the extent of its use, residents’ satisfaction and whether their practical concerns are promptly received and addressed.

He called on the provincial police to establish clear procedures specifying the personnel, tasks, timelines and responsibilities involved, while regularly reviewing and assessing the quality of information processing.

The chairman also stressed the need to provide guidance and promote the app so that police officers and residents are aware of it, understand how to use it and make regular use of it.

The app offers residents a convenient, fast and reliable channel for contacting the police to report information, request assistance or raise security and public-order concerns.

Data collected through the app should also be effectively analysed and used to identify emerging security and public-order issues, as well as locations, sectors and periods in which complex situations could arise. This would enable the authorities to take preventive action at an early stage.

The provincial police were also asked to work closely with the Department of Science and Technology and technology companies to regularly review, assess and test the system’s security.

They must proactively identify and address vulnerabilities and information security risks, while ensuring that residents’ data is managed and used safely, securely and in accordance with regulations. — VNS
