HCM CITY - The Kiên Giang Department of Tourism predicts that during this year's National Day holiday on September 2, Phú Quốc Island will attract many domestic and international tourists.
Nguyễn Vũ Khắc Huy, the standing vice chairman of the Kiên Giang Tourism Association and general director of Vina Phú Quốc Travel, stated that local authorities and tourism businesses have implemented many programmes to attract tourists.
Many hotels and resorts on the island are offering promotions and special service packages, supporting international tourists with quick procedures, and providing necessary information to ensure a smooth trip.
All establishments have listed service prices, are committed to selling at the listed prices, and are applying discount programmes to attract tourists.
Many tourism businesses have launched a series of new and exciting products, including exploring the island by double-decker bus, basket boats, water sports, feeding fish under the ocean, camping on the beach, fishing at sea, and watching the sunset on a five-star yacht, among others.
Bùi Quốc Thái, director of the Kiên Giang Department of Tourism, said the department has asked Phú Quốc to strengthen the management of tourism activities, especially at tourist areas, amusement parks, and entertainment venues.
At the same time, they are strictly handling violations of tourism laws and related regulations to ensure food safety, security, and service quality for tourists.
Tourism service businesses are actively inspecting and reviewing the quality of facilities, equipment, and services to ensure publicly listed service prices, appropriate policies to attract tourists, and civilised behaviour at tourist sites and entertainment venues.
There is a hotline at 0946.350.035 to support and resolve tourist complaints.
Phú Quốc is also closely monitoring and controlling travel agencies, requiring them to only use qualified tour guides according to regulations.
They also organise safe sightseeing, entertainment, and recreational programmes for tourists, especially for canoe and boat tours, and strictly prohibit taking tourists to dangerous places during bad weather.
Tourism businesses with beaches and swimming pools must arrange rescue teams, place warning signs in unsafe and dangerous locations, and specify areas for water sports service activities.
In the first eight months of 2024, Phú Quốc is estimated to have welcomed over 4.52 million visitors, reaching 67.6 per cent of its plan.
Of this amount, 653,525 were international tourists, achieving 98.1 per cent of the year's plan, with total tourism revenue exceeding VNĐ14.9 trillion (US$599.2 million)
Currently, Phú Quốc has international flight routes to South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai (China), Malaysia, Thailand, and others.
Among these locations, South Korea has the most flights, with four airlines operating to the island.
The city has over 40 flights arriving and departing daily, creating favourable conditions for international visitors to visit Phú Quốc.
It is forecasted that the number of visitors to Phú Quốc will increase significantly in 2024, with a strong rise in international tourists at the end of the year, especially during New Year, winter vacation, and Christmas. - VNS
