HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will host the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship from June 28 to July 6.

At least 13 clubs have registered to take part in the event, which came back to Việt Nam after 11 years.

The teams have been divided into four pools with the Việt Nam national team in Pool A, together with Iraq’s Al-Bahri club and the national team of Sri Lanka.

The matches will be organised in gymnasiums in Nam Định and Ninh Bình provinces.

Last year, Sarmayeh Bank Tehran of Iran beat Al Arabi of Qatar 3-1 to take the title. They will come to Việt Nam to defend their title. The reigning champions are in Pool B with Chinese Taipei’s national team.

Pool C includes Al Arabi, Altay of Kazakhstan, Yan Chai of Hong Kong and Canberra Heat from Australia.

The ‘death pool’ D has powerhouses such as China’s Beijing Baic Motor, Toyoda Gosei Trefuerza of Japan, Air Force from Thailand and the national team of Maldives.

The winner of the tournament will be the Asian representative at the World Men’s Club Championship in 2018.
