HÀ NỘI —  Vingroup has officially announced 'VinFast' as the name of a 135,000-seat stadium to be built in the Hà Nội International Sports Urban Area.

Once completed, the venue is expected to become the largest stadium in the world by capacity.

This will also be the first stadium in Việt Nam to carry the name of an automobile brand.

According to Vingroup, the name aims to honour Vietnamese resilience, intellect and spirit in a new era, while promoting the image of a modern and prosperous Việt Nam to the world.

VinFast Stadium will be located at the southern gateway of Hà Nội, covering a total area of 73.3ha and designed to meet FIFA standards. The project is planned to feature one of the world’s largest retractable roof systems.

The stadium is positioned as a green and smart venue, integrating artificial intelligence technologies. These include the ability to replace the entire pitch within up to 10 hours, 5G-connected seating and real-time security and crowd management systems.

Water recovery and reuse solutions are expected to cut up to 70 per cent of clean water consumption. Natural ventilation, combined with heat- and UV-resistant materials, will help reduce energy use. The VVIP area will be built to high international standards, capable of hosting heads of state and senior delegations during major events.

The surrounding area will include a range of auxiliary sports facilities, forming a massive sports, entertainment and cultural complex. The development is designed with a view to hosting major international events such as the ASIAD, FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games.
