Phong Phú Hà Nam win third U19 title

HÀ NAM — Phong Phú Hà Nam defended their National Women's U19 Football Championship after a 0-0 draw against Thái Nguyên T&T on March 11 in Hà Nam Province.

Prior to the last round matches, Phong Phú Hà Nam took advantage in the race to the top podium, with a three-point advantage and better goal difference than the nearest rival, Thái Nguyên. A draw was enough for them to take their title for the third time in a row.

Phong Phú Hà Nam however chose to play in attack, creating a number of threatening opportunities in the first half, but failed to score.

In the second half, Thái Nguyên fought back and set up a more balanced game, however both team efforts were in vain, with neither finding the back of the net.

Phong Phú Hà Nam won the title with 23 points after 10 matches. Thái Nguyên were third with 20 points.

In other matches, HCM City defeated Hà Nội 1-0 to jump to second position with 21 points. Việt Nam Coal and Minerals took their only win after beating Zantino Vĩnh Phúc 2-0.

In addition to the title, Phong Phú Hà Nam players earned two individual awards. Captain Lê Hồng Yêu was voted the MVP and Lưu Hoàng Vân was the top scorer, with seven goals,

Coach Mai Đức Chung said he saw a strong progress in the youth women's football, with players better in both technique and mental resilience, adding that all the teams had built a more scientific style of play, making the tournament more competitive. VNS
