HÀ NỘI — More than 200 players will take part in a golf tournament entitled 'Joining hands for traffic safety', which will take place on November 3 in Ninh Bình Province.

In the fifth edition at the Phoenix Golf Couse, golfers are divided into three categories based on their handicaps and compete in 18-hole stroke play in one day.

Organisers will present awards of more than VNĐ3 billion to the Best Gross and Best Net category winners as well as the Hole-in-One winner.

There will be HIO prizes available at eight holes. The biggest prize is a Hyundai Santa Fe valued at VNĐ1.36 billion.

"The tournament is community-oriented, calling for golden hearts to help traffic accident victims in difficult circumstances," said Nguyễn Thị Hồng Nga, editor-in-chief of Traffic Newspaper, organiser of the tournament.

All proceeds from sponsorship and support after deducting expenses for the tournament will be transferred to the 'Fund of the Joining Hands for Traffic Safety.'

In 2013, Traffic Newspaper launched the 'Joining hands for Traffic Safety' programme. Since then, the newspaper has organised hundreds of charity projects, awarded thousands of gifts and scholarships and built many charity houses and rural traffic bridges.

The latest construction funded by the programme is a VNĐ1 billion spillway in Chăm Pộng Village, Mường La District in Sơn La Province. — VNS
