VĨNH PHÚC — Nguyễn Mạnh Quân and Lê Minh Tuân won the first edition of the Vĩnh Phúc Half Marathon on October 20 in Vĩnh Phúc Province.

Quân repelled all rivals to cross the men's 21km finish line in a time of 1hr 19.16min. He was just half a minute faster than two runners-up Chu Văn Hảo (1:19.46) and Nguyễn Mạnh Lâm (1:19.51).

In the women's race, Tuân, a rising star in the amateur group, proved her strength with a winning time of 1:29.38.

Phạm Thị Bạn tried hard but she could not narrow a gap of nearly seven minutes between her and the lead runner, coming in second at 1:36.32. Bạch Thị Đức finished third on 1:43.00.

In the 5km class, the winners were Bùi Thanh Dưỡng (16.18min) in the men's route and Doãn Thị Oanh (19.34) in the women's.

Race organisers also arranged a short distance of 2.5km for runners under ten and presented awards to winners of different age groups ranging from U30s to over-60s, as well as giving a bonus to the special runners, such as the oldest in the field and the 88th finisher.

Runners enjoy their race and the green and beautiful routes at the Vĩnh Phúc Half Marathon 2024.

The first Vĩnh Phúc Half Marathon was organised with a view to encouraging people to practise running as part of their regular sporting activities.

Running through the charming landscapes and ideal green environment at Flamingo Đại Lải Resort, runners could also experience and immerse themselves in the fresh air and amazing natural beauty.

Organisers hoped that the tournament would help Vĩnh Phúc to encourage local tourism and they could welcome more runners in the next tournaments. VNS
