Việt Nam finish second in stage 1 of SEA Women's V.League

VĨNH PHÚC — Việt Nam have finished second in the first stage of the Southeast Asian Women's Volleyball League (SEA Women's V.League).

The team lost to Thailand 2-3 in the final match of the event, which concluded on Sunday in Vĩnh Phúc Province.

The first set saw the home team enjoy a confident and strong start. However, in the crucial moments, defending champions Thailand managed to take the lead and claim a 25-18 victory.

Following the loss in the first set, the Vietnamese team were boosted by their passionate home fans and scored in succession, leading the team to record victories in the second and third sets with scores of 29-27 and 25-23, respectively. This marks the first time that Việt Nam have won two consecutive sets against Thailand.

However, in the fourth set, although the Vietnamese side opened the scoring, the Thai team successfully held them to a draw. They displayed remarkable composure, executing precise attacks, with this effective performance leading them to a 15-13 victory.

After the intense competition, Thailand ultimately emerged triumphant with a 3-2 score, clinching first place in the tournament. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team attained a second-place finish in the first stage.
