HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội successfully defended their title at the Northside Pro-Am Basketball Championship 2024 Brought by VNPAY, which wrapped up on Sunday at the Cầu Giấy Gymnasium in the capital city.

The final match was a repeat of last year's gold medal game when Hà Nội took on their old rivals Thanh Hóa.

The match was at home for Hà Nội, but it was like Thanh Hóa were not playing away, as their crazy supporters dominated the gymnasium.

Fans played a key role in the team's strong performance in the first half which saw Thanh Hóa go neck-and-neck with the reigning champions in the first quarter at 14-17 and were close behind in the second at 27-38.

However, Hà Nội under the lead of pro twin Hoàng Ca and Đạt Doc, then made all the difference in the rest of the match.

Their strong attacks were irresistible and they extended the lead to 62-46 in the third quarter, before wrapping up at 74-58.

Last year Thanh Hóa lost 56-87.

Hà Nội not only kept the triumph cup at home but also had Đạt Doc or Nguyễn Thành Đạt voted most valuable player of the tournament and took a purse of VNĐ100 million for the win.

In the third-placed play-off Quảng Ninh defeated Bắc Ninh 69-57 to take bronze.

The tournament which was in its tenth year was co-organised by New Sports and VTVcab under the support of the Hà Nội Culture and Sports Department. — VNS
