HÀ NỘI — Automobile drivers must set up bank accounts so that when they violate traffic regulations police can deduct the fine from their account directly.

This was proposed by Colonel Đào Thanh Hải, deputy director of the Hà Nội Police.

The proposal was given during a conference of the Hà Nội Police to discuss setting up a plan for ensuring traffic safety this year, which was held at the end of last week.

Colonel Hải added that since the city police supervised traffic safety via cameras, the traffic police’s work had become easier and drivers’ awareness had improved.

However, there were still several difficulties faced while imposing penalties, as some drivers did not have ownership certificates.

Colonel Hải proposed that automobile drivers set up bank accounts with a mandatory amount.

“With the bank accounts, drivers’ awareness will be much better, as the money will directly be deducted from their account whenever they violate regulations,” Hải said. — VNS
