CÀ MAU — Cà Mau Province has identified industry and construction as key drivers of its plan to achieve sustained double-digit economic growth by 2030.
Việt Nam's southernmost province aims to raise its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) to VNĐ226.8 trillion (US$8.64 billion) by 2030, with average annual GRDP growth of at least 10 per cent during 2026–30.
To achieve this target, the Cà Mau Party Committee and the province People's Committee have directed the entire political system to implement key measures.
Among them, industry and construction have been identified as breakthrough sectors, with output expected to reach VNĐ53.57 trillion ($2 billion) by 2030, growing by an average of 14 per cent a year.
The province is also prioritising funding for key public investment projects and aims to achieve a 100 per cent disbursement rate to help attract further investment.
It is also promoting private sector development by providing timely support for businesses and stepping up efforts to attract non-budget investment.

Huỳnh Công Quân, director of the provincial finance department, said the department was revising the provincial master plan for 2021–30 with a vision to 2050 to support the double-digit growth target.
It is advising on a focused public investment plan for 2026–30, while prioritising resources for major projects expected to generate spillover effects and attract investment, he said.
It is also promoting investment, inviting capable and experienced investors, and proposing measures to simplify administrative procedures, shorten processing times and reduce costs for businesses and investors, Quân added.
The province's Department of Construction is working with ministries and central agencies to accelerate the expansion and upgrading of Cà Mau Airport, the Cà Mau–Đất Mũi Expressway, the Hòn Khoai dual-use general port and the road linking the island with the mainland.
The department is also implementing projects to upgrade and expand National Highway 1, the Hồ Chí Minh Highway section passing through the province, and the Hà Tiên–Rạch Giá–Bạc Liêu Expressway.
Construction is also being accelerated on key provincial projects, including a ring road connecting expressways, national highways and coastal economic centres, and the Cà Mau coastal road.
The province is also developing multimodal transport and logistics services by applying science and technology, improving transport services and reducing logistics costs.

In Bạc Liêu Ward, the local People's Committee is promoting digital transformation and technology application in governance and administrative reform to support sustainable double-digit growth.
The ward is also improving the quality of administrative reform and building a digital government, with the satisfaction of residents and businesses at the centre of public services.
Lê Việt Sô, Chairman of the Bạc Liêu People's Committee, said the ward is implementing 45 projects with total planned investment of more than VNĐ131 billion ($5 million) this year, and more than 50 per cent of the allocated capital has already been disbursed to date.
Administrative reforms have also helped attract new investment, with nearly 80 businesses established this year, bringing the total number of enterprises in the ward to 1,133, he said.
Resolving bottlenecks
Cà Mau is focusing on resolving obstacles to accelerate wind power projects, attract investment and develop new energy sources, including green hydrogen and green ammonia, according to its People's Committee.
Power transmission and distribution projects, including 220kV and 110kV transmission lines and substations, are being built to come into operation as soon as possible and contribute to economic growth.

Huỳnh Chí Nguyện, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said Cà Mau is continuing to improve infrastructure while creating a favourable investment environment under the principle that "the government accompanies businesses, and business satisfaction is the measure of service quality."
The province gives priority to capable investors in renewable energy and continues to work closely with businesses to promptly remove difficulties during project implementation and ensure projects remain on schedule, Nguyện said.
Since the beginning of the year, construction has begun on two wind power projects.
The first is the 100MW Đông Hải 13 Wind Power Plant and Phase 1 of the 50MW Đông Hải 3 Wind Power Plant, with combined investment of nearly VNĐ5.4 trillion in Long Điền Commune.
The other is the 50MW Japan – Bạc Liêu Wind Power Plant, with investment of nearly VNĐ2.5 trillion in Đông Hải Commune.
“These projects will help achieve the province's double-digit growth target for 2026 and the 2026–30 period,” Nguyện said.

The province will promote processing industries for agricultural products, seafood and garments, with particular attention given to seafood processing for serving agricultural value chains, especially the shrimp industry.
Cà Mau, which is the country’s largest shrimp producer, aims to increase its annual processed shrimp output to 710,000 tonnes by 2030.
The province will promote clean, high-tech agriculture focused on shrimp and rice, while applying advanced technologies linked with processing and market development.
Nguyễn Hồ Hải, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, said Cà Mau is stepping up efforts to ensure public investment plays a leading role in mobilising and stimulating social investment resources.
The province is focusing on ensuring the progress, quality and efficiency of key projects, including transport, urban and energy infrastructure works across the province, he said.
