ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city of Đà Nẵng is stepping up efforts to become a global hub for artificial intelligence (AI) applications and smart education, as Google for Education for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East discussed co-operation to implement AI-based tools and research in the city’s schools.

During a working visit, Tim Paolini, Director of Google for Education for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, met with Trần Anh Tuấn, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, to explore launching a series of AI applications, including Google Gemini-based Chatbot and LearnLM, an experimental task-specific model guided by learning science principles. The initiatives aim to accelerate digital transformation and broaden the use of AI across education.

Tuấn welcomed Google’s proposals and instructed relevant city agencies to develop plans for quickly implementing AI applications in education. Google for Education will support the rollout of Gemini Academy and Gemini Education programmes, assisting teachers, students and rehabilitation programmes for people with disabilities.

Paolini said Google will also help the city’s education and training department build a data centre management system to classify and manage high-quality human resources among students. AI tools will extend to administrative management, logistics, tourism and finance.

Earlier, the Đà Nẵng Semiconductor & AI Research and Training Centre (DSAC), in partnership with Synopsys, Gasa Holdings, TreSemi and Intel Việt Nam, launched training courses for 80 top trainees in the sector and 400 students in human resource programmes. Strategic partners Marvell Việt Nam and FPT Group are supporting the city’s goal of becoming one of the three largest semiconductor and AI centres in Việt Nam. — VNS
