HCM CITY — The third "Action month for women campaign" for 2025 in HCM City will focuses on promoting the Party’s directives and the State’s policies and laws on women and gender equality.
The HCM City Women’s Union launched the third campaign last Saturday (October 4) in Đất Đỏ Commune.
Speaking at the launching event, Võ Ngọc Thanh Trúc, chairwoman of the Việt Nam Women’s Union - HCM City chapter, said the campaign aims to raise public awareness on gender equality while mobilising resources to support women and children in difficult circumstances.
It also focuses on promoting women’s entrepreneurship, economic development, access to science and technology, and participation in digital transformation.
Activities will include visits and support for policy beneficiary families, vulnerable women, and migrant workers.
In addition, the campaign will feature initiatives aligned with national movements such as “Building Families with Five Nos and Three Cleans” and “Fostering the Image of HCM City Women as Compassionate, Dynamic, Creative and Capable.”
Women’s Union chapters citywide will simultaneously launch the “City of a Thousand Blossoms” movement, featuring 169 green projects and flower gardens in schools, communities, and households to build a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful city.
Trúc called on all-level Women’s Unions to uphold a proactive and creative spirit by organising practical activities suited to each locality, with a focus on caring for women and children in need and implementing social welfare policies.
Nguyễn Phước Lộc, vice secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, emphasised that women play a crucial role across all areas of social life.
He urged the Women’s Union to coordinate with local Party committees to ensure that activities deliver tangible and measurable results that improve both material and spiritual living standards.
He highlighted the Party Committee’s directive on the “Action Month for Women,” which clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of Party organisations and authorities in facilitating and supporting Women’s Union activities.
He called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, the business community, religious groups, intellectuals, and citizens to help women remain pillars of their families and enhance their participation in community and social initiatives.
He asked the Women’s Union to implement the principles of “Three Easies” (easy to understand, remember, and do), “Three Clears” (clear objectives, responsibilities, and deadlines), and “Three Measurements” (measurable inputs, outputs, and impacts).
He also urged adherence to the “Three Proximities” (close to people, grassroots, and digital space), the “Four Nos” (no formalism, avoidance, shirking, or overreach), and the “Five Musts” (must listen, engage in dialogue, set an example, take responsibility, and report results).
“The city’s Women’s Union will continue to play a key role in promoting gender equality and social welfare, contributing to building a livable city where every woman and child is safe, happy, and able to thrive,” he said.
On this occasion, the HCM City Women’s Union presented 15 scholarships to students, 22 livelihood packages, and 343 health insurance cards to disadvantaged women, with total funding of nearly VNĐ1 billion (US$42,600).
In response to the campaign, the Women’s Union, in collaboration with religious organisations, also organised the “Nuns’ Charity and Social Work Festival” at the Social Protection and Elderly Care Centre in Long Điền Commune, offering gifts and nutritious meals to elderly individuals living alone. — VNS
