HÀ NỘI – The transport ministry led the online public service evaluation ranking in the first six months of 2023.

The ministry has connected databases and integrated them into the National Public Service Portal so that people no longer have to visit offices for procedures, helping them save time and costs.

Nguyễn Xuân Cường, director of the Việt Nam Road Administration, said the agency had run 66 online public services in the first half of this year. Level-4 online public service on changing driving permits has been launched nationwide since November 14, 2022.

Cường said about 9,000 driving permits have been issued during this period.

“The implementation of online driving licence renewal has contributed to simplifying, reducing application procedures, saving time and costs in handling administrative procedures for changing driver's licences,” Cường said.

According to Cường, each online application for driving licence renewal helps drivers living far from the city centre 300km save around VNĐ700,000 on travel.

Affirming that building e-Government is of particular importance, Director of the Information Technology Centre Lê Thanh Tùng said the ministry will continue to provide 291 online public services out of a total of 404 administrative procedures.

The system received and processed 114,629 applications in the first half of the year, with an online application rate of 80.2 per cent and over 103,000 user accounts. The rate of online applications grew by approximately 8.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry of Transport has set a target of completing general data on automobiles and vehicle drivers in all five sectors by the end of this year. By June 2024, data on traffic infrastructure must entirely go online so that traffic works will be digitalised like personal records, Tùng said.

The Ministry of Transport is coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security to show driver's licences on the e-identification app VNeID, piloting biometric authentication for flight check-in, and expanding non-stop toll collection at airports, Tùng said. – VNS
