The Vietnamese leader proposed US friends continue to motivate and inspire young generations and contribute more to nurturing the bilateral relations in the spirit of respect for each other's institutions and independence and sovereignty.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính stressed that Việt Nam had transformed from an aid recipient to a big rice exporter, and from a country ravaged by wars for decades to a nation with great strides in hunger eradication and poverty alleviation, and in the process to realise the UN’s Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính delivered a speech at the General Debate of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22.
