TOKYO —The Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) will play the most crucial role in building peace, as peace is the foundation for prosperity, Director-General of the International Bureau of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Yamaguchi Tsuyoshi has said.
Speaking with a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Japan on the occasion of the 14th National Congress of the CPV, Tsuyoshi praised Việt Nam’s impressive progress in recent years, stressing that the CPV has been at the core of this development.
Against a backdrop of global shifts and escalating geopolitical tensions, the role of Việt Nam and Japan in cooperation in shaping a new era has become increasingly vital, with the CPV serving as a key driver in this effort.
Referring to the new priorities outlined in the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, Tsuyoshi highlighted education as the most fundamental foundation, as human development is integral to nation-building.
Education is the driving force behind economic development, he said, expressing his belief that Việt Nam and Japan have ample room for economic cooperation.
Noting the particularly close and special relationship between the LDP and the CPV, Tsuyoshi voiced hope that the two sides would work together and deepen cooperation in the time to come.
He stated that the LDP regards building on recent achievements and strengthening relations between the two parties as a key priority, and that there have already been exchange activities among young people of the two countries, who he believes will carry forward cooperation towards new phase and higher level of the bilateral relations.
If Japan and Việt Nam continue to build and strengthen these people-to-people relations, they can jointly help usher in a new era for the Asia-Pacific region, he said, stressing that the core of diplomacy lies in building human-to-human connections.
He hoped Japan would soon establish direct connections with new leaders of the CPV, so that together the two sides can contribute to promoting peace and prosperity in the region. — VNA/VNS
