TEL AVIV – Recent achievements like maintaining stability, elevating Việt Nam’s international standing and gradually transforming its growth model have further reinforced overseas Vietnamese’ confidence in the country’s chosen development path, according to chairwoman of the Vietnamese Association in Israel Trương Thị Hồng.

In an interview with Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Tel Aviv ahead of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Việt Nam to be held from January 19-25, Hồng described nearly four decades of Đổi mới (Renewal), initiated and led by the Party, as a historic and far-sighted decision that has driven profound and comprehensive changes across the nation.

She said Việt Nam’s progress in recent years has been tangible, substantive and worthy of pride. The country has steadily moved beyond poverty and backwardness, maintained political and social stability, expanded its economy and improved living standards, while deepening integration into the global economy.

These achievements are reflected not only in growth figures, income levels and poverty reduction, but also in rising quality of life and stronger social trust, she noted.

From the perspective of the Vietnamese community in Israel, a global hub of science, technology and innovation, Việt Nam is now widely regarded by international partners as a stable, dynamic country with significant development potential and as a trustworthy partner.

Bilateral cooperation between Việt Nam and Israel has continued to broaden, particularly in high-tech agriculture, science and technology, innovation and workforce development, underscoring Việt Nam’s growing international profile and credibility.

Việt Nam’s standing has also been enhanced through its active, responsible engagement in multilateral frameworks and in addressing regional and global issues, where it has emerged as a contributor to peace, cooperation and development.

Reviewing five years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Hồng highlighted Việt Nam’s ability to maintain stability amid complex global headwinds, notably through effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic, swift economic recovery, guaranteed social welfare and stable livelihoods.

She added that macroeconomic fundamentals have remained broadly sound, major balances preserved and confidence among businesses and the public further strengthened.

Việt Nam continues to uphold its role as a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community, Hồng said.

Party, State and people-to-people diplomacy has been pursued in a coordinated manner, significantly elevating the country’s standing on the global stage, including through the expansion of practical cooperation with science- and technology-driven partners like Israel.

At the same time, strong efforts in Party building and the fight against corruption and negative practices have delivered clear results, helping to bolster public trust.

Looking ahead to the 14th National Party Congress, Hồng said the Vietnamese community in Israel remains closely engaged with the nation’s development, with deep affection, firm confidence and high expectations. They believe the Party and the State will continue to steer the country into a new phase of faster and more sustainable growth.

She also called on the Party and the State to continue treating education as a top national priority, stressing its critical role not only in developing the workforce but also in nurturing innovation, creativity and national competitiveness.

Sustained investment in high-quality education, closely linked with research and the practical needs of the economy, is essential for long-term development.

In parallel, the Vietnamese community in Israel is keenly interested in the advancement of smart, technology-driven agriculture, and hopes Việt Nam will further promote the application of high, digital and biotechnologies, build sustainable value chains and enhance the added value and competitiveness of its agricultural products in global markets.

Aside from agriculture alone, science, technology and innovation should also be recognised as key engines of growth in the new era, she said.

Vietnamese in Israel and elsewhere are eager to deepen connections with the homeland and to contribute through technology transfer, research and development, as well as innovative start-up initiatives. To this end, she urged the State to adopt more open and effective mechanisms to attract and make full use of overseas Vietnamese intellectual resources.

She added that equal attention should be paid to human resources development and the creation of a comprehensive development ecosystem, noting that development is not merely economic growth but also involves creating an environment that enables people to develop fully in intellect, ethics, skills and adaptability.

Hồng confirmed that the Vietnamese community in Israel stands ready to accompany the Party and the State, pooling its knowledge, experience and resources to help build a more developed, prosperous Việt Nam with an increasingly strong position on the international stage. VNA/VNS
