HÀ NỘI — As the central destination for a series of key national anniversaries this year, Hà Nội has launched many attractive promotional activities and programmes to stimulate and enhance its tourism appeal.
This is an occasion to celebrate the heroic historical milestones of the nation – the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025), the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025) and the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2025).
It also aims to promote the image of the capital city as a cultural, civilised and modern destination to both domestic and international friends.
Amid the festive atmosphere of these grand celebrations, numerous themed exhibitions and displays have been organised. Highlights include the Sharp Pen, Loyal Heart exhibition, which showcases the resilient spirit and indomitable will of Vietnamese soldiers at Hỏa Lò Prison until August 31. Other notable exhibitions are People's Police - 80 Years of Upholding Uncle Hồ's Words, the Autumn of Independence exhibition, and a large oil painting display titled Spring of Independence at the Hồ Chí Minh Museum.

The Thăng Long Heritage site will host several display activities starting with the D67 House and Tunnel, presenting The Journey to Total Victory from August 19. The Cipher Tunnel from the General Staff Department will also be open from the same date. Additionally, the Flag Tower of Hà Nội will feature a display titled Homeland and the Aspiration for Peace commencing on September 1.
At the Vietnam National History Museum, the exhibition Popular Education – Lighting the Future will open on August 22. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum will present The Children of the Homeland exhibition, which opens on August 15 and an exhibition focused on Artificial Intelligence in Applied Arts on August 22.
Tourist attractions across the city will host vibrant and engaging cultural and artistic activities to lure visitors. Notable events include a mapping light art show at Hoàn Kiếm Lake on August 29-30 and an artistic programme entitled 80 Years – Proud of Việt Nam at Đông Kinh Nghĩa Thục Square from August 30 to September 2.
Numerous engaging activities showcasing the traditional culture of various ethnic groups will take place within a highland market space and cultural performances at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture Village from August 30 to September 2.
The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of Việt Nam will take place at Ba Đình Square on September 2. This event will include a parade and various activities, including a fireworks display to celebrate the grand occasion at five locations: Hoàn Kiếm Lake, West Lake, Văn Quán Lake, Thống Nhất Park, and Mỹ Đình National Stadium. This will attract a large number of visitors to Hà Nội.

Various museums across the city will offer free admission for residents and international visitors from September 1 to September 3. The Vietnam Contemporary Art Theatre will also provide free access, especially for children, featuring water puppet shows and engaging artistic and musical programmes.
Several tourist attractions in the city will offer a range of free activities for visitors, including mosaic painting, ceramic weaving, and recycled ceramic painting experiences at the Bát Tràng Tourism Site from August 16 to September 2. Entry to the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel will also be free, along with water puppet performances.
Hà Nội’s Department of Tourism plans to distribute 35,000 gifts to visitors to Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum on September 3.

According to Hà Nội’s Department of Tourism, the city currently has 3,761 accommodation establishments with a total of 71,256 rooms. Among these, there are 85 hotels and apartment complexes rated from one to five stars, offering a combined total of 11,965 rooms, in addition to 3,676 unregistered accommodation establishments with 59,291 rooms.
The accommodation system is well-equipped to handle a large influx of guests during major holidays and is prepared to serve tourists while focusing on enhancing service quality.
Many high-star hotels in the city are offering various promotional programmes for the September 2 holiday, featuring vacation packages that include dining services, spa treatments, and other amenities. These packages also offer complimentary dining vouchers and limited edition polo shirts featuring the national flag, as well as free services along with dining discounts at restaurants and bars, allowing guests to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere of the country.
Notable packages include the National Day Package at JW Marriott Hanoi, Family Moments of Joy at InterContinental Hanoi Landmark 72, the Proud Holiday – Welcome National Day package at Hanoi Hotel and Hanoi Staycation Package at Thăng Long Opera and Thăng Long Espana.
In order to better serve residents and tourists attending the commemorative activities, Hà Nội is encouraging businesses, hotels, restaurants and supermarkets to open their restrooms during the celebration.
