HCM CITY — A system to share eco-friendly scooters has been launched at the HCM City University of Technology under a joint project with Bosch, the Đà Nẵng University of Science and Technology, and the Vietnamese-German University.
Following the introduction in the HCM City university, the system will next be launched at the other two universities in December.
In this pilot project, students of the three universities can use 18 eScooters for free within their campuses by registering online at https://bosch-green-challenge.com.vn/.
A fully-charged vehicle can travel up to 80km at a maximum speed of 45km per hour.
The German company has provided more than VNĐ4 billion (US$ 182,000) for this pilot project.
The students working on this project won the 2015 Green Challenge contest organized by Bosch and the three universities.
Võ Quang Huệ, manging director of Bosch Vietnam, said through this project, Bosch hopes to establish closer links between businesses and academia to boost research.
The system, if properly implemented, would help solve challenges related to public transportation and environmental protection in large cities, and be one of the solutions for building smart cities, he said. — VNS
