The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday condemned Chinese’s establishment of two research stations on Đá Chữ Thập (Fiery Cross Reef) and Đá Xu Bi (Subi Reef) which are parts of Việt Nam's Trường Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc ordered a thorough review of all entrants – Vietnamese and foreigners alike – into Việt Nam since March 8 to discover COVID-19 infection cases and prevent community spread.
The suspension will run until the end of the month.
The Vietnamese Government late Saturday announced that it would temporarily halt entry to all foreigners, starting 00:00 March 22, citing concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The order came on Wednesday following media reports of service establishments across the country refusing service to foreign nationals, even showing signs of discrimination against them over coronavirus transmission fears.
The Foreign Ministry has warned Vietnamese citizens against unnecessary travel Singapore, after the country issued new regulations on entry procedures amid the spread of COVID-19.
The decision will be effective for 30 days, starting March 15, the foreign ministry said.
