HA NOI — Saigon Heat have signed Stefan Nguyễn for the rest of the ASEAN Basketball League season following a series of injuries to its players.

Stefan, a Vietnamese Swedish guard, played for the Heat for three seasons in the past.

He is expected to fill the hole left by injured Kyle Barron, Trevon Hughes and Sang Đinh.

Under coach Kyle Julius last season, the 1.91m Stefan scored an average of 5.8 points per match.

He said it was great to be back and playing for Saigon Heat. The Heat’s goal was winning and he would be happy to make that come true.

Julius said he had been forced to make changes to the injuries suffered by his players. He said he was pleased to welcome Stefan back for the rest of the season. Stefan played well last season and he clearly understood the team.

The Heat, currently in fifth position, will next host Zhuhai Wolf Warriors of China at the CIS Arena in HCM City. — VNS
