HÀ NỘI — Saigon Heat were defeated 81-79 by CLS Knights Indonesia in the ASEAN Basketball League on Sunday.

After a six game road stretch, the Heat were grateful to play at home at CIS Arena in HCM City and had an impressive start, taking the first quarter 25-19, led by DeAngelo Hamilton (8 points), Murphy Burnatowski (6 points) and Trần Đăng Khoa (5 points).

The Heat flexed their muscles in the second period and entered the half with a 52-40 lead.

In the next period, the Indonesian team stepped up their game and came from behind to end the third up 64-60.

The Heat narrowed the gap to two points in the last quarter but still fell 81-79.

The Heat will next take on Zhuhai Wolf Warriors on March 3.

With this loss, the Heat are still fourth in the rankings with 11 wins and eight losses. San Miguel Alab Pilipinas lead with 15 wins and three losses, while Formosa Dreamers came second with 11 wins and six losses. — VNS
