HCM City — Twenty-eight-year-old Vietnamese-French player Alize Lim triumphed in both the women’s singles and doubles category of the VTF Pro Tour 4 – Hưng Thịnh Cup 2018 Sunday.

The matches took place at Phú Thọ Tennis Complex, HCM City.

Lim of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City beat 16-year-old Vietnamese-Hungarian Fodor Csilla of Đà Nẵng 7-5, 6-2 in the women’s singles final to take the title.

It is the first time Lim has played in a national event of Việt Nam. She aims to wear the national jersey to compete in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games as well as the Asian Games.

Lim, previously world No 135, has competed in the Grand Slam seven times.

She was the image ambassador at the Hưng Thịnh Việt Nam Open last year.

“This final was very difficult for me. Csilla played very well in the first set, however, she was exhausted in the second set so I took this chance to win. Csilla is a strong player and I am very glad to play with her,” said Lim.

Meanwhile, Csilla praised Lim and said: “Lim is very strong with strong attacks. This loss helped me know my weaknesses and I must repair them.”

In the women’s doubles final, Lim and her teammate Phan Như Quỳnh defeated Nguyễn Từ Kim Ngân and Nguyễn Thị Bé Xuyên of the Military team 7-5, 6-0.

In the men’s singles semi-finals, No 1 seed Hoàng Thành Trung of Police easily beat Alexander Trương Giang Thanh of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City, while No 2 seed Nguyễn Đắc Tiến also bested Timothy Toàn Phụng of Hải Đăng Tây Ninh.

In the men’s doubles, Bùi Trí Nguyên and Nguyễn Anh Thắng of Hải Đăng Tây Ninh overcame Lê Trung Tính and Trần Hoàng Anh Khoa of the Military team 6-4, 6-4 to enter the final.
