American midfielder Mobi Fehr signs a contract with V.League’s Hoàng Anh Gia Lai FC. — File Photo

HÀ NỘI — V.League 1 team Hoàng Anh Gia Lai FC have signed on American midfielder Mobi Fehr. The 22-year-old will play for his new club for one year.

Fehr, who is 1.82m tall, was a member of the US squad that competed in the 2011 U17 World Cup in Mexico. In the 19 matches played, he scored two goals.

Before arriving in Việt Nam, Fehr competed for Portland Timbers of the US and SC Sagamihara in Japan.

Fehr is the second foreign player to be signed by Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, the other being midfielder Masaaki Ideguchi, who came last year. The details of Fehr’s contract are not revealed. National idols Lê Công Phượng and Nguyễn Tuấn Anh are said to return home for the coming season after a one-year loan contract in Japan.

Hoàng Anh Gia Lai finished the 2015-16 season at No. 12 position with nine wins, three draws and 14 losses. — VNS
