HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam advanced into the semi-finals of the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026 from Group A after a comprehensive 7-1 victory over Timor Leste at the Central Stadium in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand, on April 7.

It was Việt Nam’s second victory in as many matches after their 4-0 win over Myanmar a day earlier.

The team found the back of Timor Leste's net through Từ Minh Quang just three minutes into the game.

His teammate Nguyễn Thịnh Phát, Nguyễn Đa Hải, and Trần Quang Nguyên scored one each in the first half.

Đinh Công Viên, Trịnh Công Đại and Nguyễn Thạc Hiếu added three more goals in the second half.

Timor-Leste’s only goal in the game came by way of Joel Baptista Canizio Fernandes late in the 39th minute.

Hosts Thailand were made to work for their second win in the group today when Myanmar played a compact game to restrict them to just a 2-0 win.

Muhammad Osamanmusa had given Thailand the lead after just two minutes.

But Myanmar would soon shore up their defence for long periods in the game before Sarawut Phlapruk added the second goal later on.

Việt Nam and Thailand took full six points after two matches but it is Việt Nam in the top place due to its better goal difference. Both two sides qualify for the knock-out stage.

They will meet on April 8 to decide who will be the Group A winners. — VNS
