HÀ NỘI -- Việt Nam finished second at the CFA Lanzhou Olympics Cup Women's Futsal International Tournament which closed on July 15 in China.

In the last match, Việt Nam dropped a win over Uzbekistan in the last few minutes as the Southeast Asians led 5-3 when the match was at its end.

Uzbekistan, which were considered stronger side, carried out the 'power play' tactic and succeeded with two goals to level the score.

After three matches, the team won one and drew two to have five points, two less than Uzbekistan, who topped the table. Iran ended up in third place.

Striker Thanh Ngân of Việt Nam was honoured as Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

The Lanzhou Tournament was a round-robin competition featuring three visitors and the host side.

It was a warm up for Việt Nam before taking part in the 2025 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Futsal Asian Cup, which is a qualification for the first FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup.

Three top nations at the Asian tournament will represent the continent at the World Cup, which will take place in the Philippines in 2025. -- VNS
