Việt Nam expect to earn place at the World Group II Play-offs in 2025. Photos of VTF

HÀ NỘI -- Expectations are high for the Việt Nam tennis team who, following an important win, will go on to dominate the play-offs at the 2024 Davis Cup's regional zone competition.

On July 13, Việt Nam secured a 2-1 win over Singapore at the 2024 Davis Cup's Group III Asia-Oceania zone in Amman, Jordan.

Nguyễn Văn Phương, 23, defeated Shaheed Alam 6-4, 6-2.

Vũ Hà Minh Đức lost 3-6, 5-7 to Bill Chan before Đinh Viết Tuấn Minh and Văn Phương beat Shaheed Alam and 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 7-5.

Nguyễn Văn Phương wins both a singles and a doubles match in Việt Nam's 2-1 victory over Singapore on June 13.

With two wins and one loss Việt Nam jumped to number three in the group A ranking and will play Malaysia in the last match.

"It is a decisive match for us as we will vie for a second place of the group. A win over this arch-rival will promises us a slot in the World Group II Play-offs in 2025," said Việt Nam captain Trương Quốc Bảo.

"All players must prepare well and deliver their best. We are hopeful of a positive result and going further in the Davis Cup campaign." VNS
