ĐÀ NẴNG — Australian golfer Aaron Wilkin won the BRG Open Golf Championship-Đà Nẵng 2023, the first tournament of the Asian Development Tour held in Việt Nam.

Wilkin won scoring 206 in total, 10-under-par, in three rounds at the Nicklaus Đà Nẵng course.

The Australian took the cash-prize of US$17,500 and the unique Chu Đậu ceramic champions trophy fused with the 600-year cultural heritage of Việt Nam.

“I reserve my thanks to the city’s people’s committee, the tournament organisers, caddies, fans and the tournament’s sponsor – BRG Group – for supports and well organisation at the championship,” he said at the prize award ceremony on September 2.

“It’s my first time in a tournament in Việt Nam and Đà Nẵng and I was challenged with tough fairways at the tournament. The course was quite good, but it’s hot during play.”

Aaron had not a good start in the first round as he scored 73, but he then earned his momentum with a 68 in the second round. In the final round, the Australian golfer shot 65 and won the trophy.
